via Special Olympics Virginia If it’s February in Virginia Beach, it’s time for the annual event called Polar Plunge, when hearty souls run several miles and then take a dip in the icy-cold waters of the ocean. While the goal of the gala is to raise money for the Special Olympics, it’s actually a grand mid-winter party that includes a parade down the boardwalk, costume contest and live music. In addition, it will have a marketplace featuring the creative works of artisans. The temperature is likely to be brisk, but attendees can warm up with free hot chocolate and coffee.
