Unique Events Coming Up at Virginia Beach

From now until the end of the season, the oceanfront will be alive with big doings on weekends. Some of the festivities, such as those below, are opportunities to enjoy something rather unique. May 5th Festivals

Now that we’re getting deeper into spring, local community galas are gearing up. The two festivals below are on the agenda for May 5 th . via vabeach.com Kentucky Derby Party Horse racing fans will enjoy attending the Kentucky Derby Party at Seton Youth Shelter. The event includes live horse races, mint juleps, equestrian exhibitions, a hat contest, music and great food. In addition, it provides a large-screen live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby. If you can’t be there in person, this party is the next best thing. Admission is $115. Hours are from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The location is Back Bay Farms at 1833 Princess Anne Road. Chic’s Beach Festival From noon to 8 p.m., you can listen to live music outdoors and sample craft beers at Chic’s Beach Festival. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Friday Night Hoedowns

On these evenings, bands from various genres provide a concert, and some members of the audience dance. The gala attracts people of all ages, ranging from seniors to children. All you need to bring is a blanket or lawn chair. When the weather is rainy, the concerts are held under a large tent. Admission is free.
