Virginia Beach is home to weekly oceanfront events, from traditional to a bit wacky! Explore the fun and wild side of our beautiful town as you kick back at Virginia Beach KOA this summer. The Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge takes place on July 23 on the beach at 30 th Street. This family-friendly event features hermit crab races — yes, you read that correctly — on specially designed tracks. “Crabtestants” compete for the crown to cross their claws over the finish line. And it gets even better with the Miss Curvaceous Crustacean Beauty Pageant. Hermit crab owners show their creativity with beautifully decorated habitats. Cheer on your favorites, and their owners, too! From Most Athletic Crab to Friendliest Crab, these critters can earn a host of trophies. You’ll get to see over 200 hermit crabs decked out for the occasion. The event is free to attend, and it’s a one-of-a-kind occasion to mark on your summer calendar. Then race over to Virginia Beach KOA to kick up your boots. Stay
