Neptune Festival

A famous series of oceanfront activates coming up on September 28 through 29 is the Neptune Festival, an event that will offer campers at Virginia Beach KOA a broad variety of entertainment. The signature part of the festival is the North American Sandsculpting Championship, a world-class competition drawing sculptors from around the globe. Under a huge tent, 12 solo contestants and 10 doubles teams will vie for the biggest prize awarded in the country for this type of competition. Teaching demonstrations will also be provided, so novices can learn how to create their own masterpiece in the sand. In addition to the sandsculpting contest involving artistry, the festival will include several contests involving athletic prowess, including a volleyball tournament, surfing classic and foot race. Fall Kickoff

Summer is over and it’s time for the fall football season to begin. On September 21 and 22, campers at Virginia Beach KOA can participate in fall kickoff, where they can wear their favorite team’s apparel. Residents can also have the fun of decorating their site with their team’s colors and competing for the best team campsite. A good place for delicious barbeque that has been slow cooked for hours is Jake’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. Try the chicken with your choice of sides, such as mouth-watering beans and hush puppies. Top it all off with an order of banana pudding, brownie delight or fruit cobbler. The oceanfront always has live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays. Mediterranean Weekend

Join the local community in celebrating the cultures of Italy and Greece on September 14 through 16. On this weekend, campers at Virginia Beach KOA can enjoy the glorious food of these countries along with music, dance and world-class entertainment. During the Peroni’s Festa Italiana, you can dine on pizza and Italian pastries while being serenaded by strolling musicians who sing tunes we’ve all heard growing up. Friday and Saturday’s schedule is full of Italian performers, including a dance troupe. While these events are taking place, a spot further down the boardwalk will be the scene of the Big Fat Greek Party, where authentic Greek chefs will prepare the cuisine of their country. Feast on delicacies like baklava, koulourakia and loukoumades while being entertained by Grecian dancers. Family Great Adventure Series

Campers at Virginia Beach KOA can become a sleuth for an evening during the Family Great Adventure Series on September 7, an interactive endeavor that leads visitors to different sites along the boardwalk to unravel a mystery. At the conclusion of the adventure, you can sit on the beach and enjoy a free family-friendly movie. Also on the beachfront on September 7 and 8 is Blues at the Beach, a two-day celebration of the musical genre of blues, featuring several talented national headliners. During the event, spectators can even participate in free instrumental workshops. The entertainment begins Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at 17 th St. Park. At our campground, September 7 through 9 is Grandparents Are Special Weekend, involving activities like a flashlight candy hunt and outdoor movie.
