Patriotic Festival

Residents of Virginia Beach KOA can attend a Patriotic Festival that celebrates our nation’s military on May 31 through June 2. During these three days the beautiful oceanfront will be the scene of concerts and an air show, along with military displays and demonstrations. A few of the artists scheduled to perform include Justin Moore, The Beach Boys and Pistol Annies, as well as Scotty McCreery, Steel Purse and Little Big Town. One of the highlights of the event is an exhibition by the Blue Angels, who will awe the crowd with their flight precision and skill. Head over to the Military Aviation Museum on June 2 to watch the Flying Proms Air Show. The Virginia Symphony will provide background music as this group flies vintage aircraft, thrilling the audience with breathtaking maneuvers. Following the show, a dazzling fireworks display will light up the sky. The concert starts at 6:45 and admission ranges from $35 to $45. Heroes Weekend at Virginia Beach

Memorial Day Weekend is the official start of our summer camping season at Virginia Beach KOA. Out activities schedule will be jam-packed with fun for the whole family. The community also has some spectacular events planned. On May 25 and 26, the area will have its Pungo Strawberry Festival, an annual event involving a parade, large carnival and impressive military display, as well as pig races and a crafts show. Best of all, the festivity will offer visitors all the strawberries they can eat, prepared in 50 different dishes. Special highlights of the event will include a strawberry bake-off and pie eating contest. A popular festival, it draws more than 120,000 attendees. Another fabulous event on May 24 through 26 is Salute to Summer, a patriotic salute to the country involving music, food and the military. Home Educators Appreciation Weekend

So many campers at Virginia Beach KOA love the music of decades past. These golden oldies, along with classic cars from this era, can be enjoyed at the Beach Music Weekend and Beach Music Cruise-In on May 16 through 19. Relax on the oceanfront and savor this nostalgic tribute to the good ol’ days that will include dancing under the stars. The car show involving a display of 50 cool vehicles from yesteryear will be held on the boardwalk on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Another oceanfront event on May 18 and 19 is the Pirate Party on the Beach, which will be a lighthearted event of costume contests and pirate enactors as well as a treasure hunt. A merry band of pirates will entertain the crowd with sea songs and swordplay demonstrations. Also included will be a movie on the beach. Parents who homeschool children are unsung heroes who make many sacrifices. PANorama Caribbean Music Fest

A musical adventure is in store for campers of Virginia Beach KOA on May 10 and 11 that will involve the unique sound of steel drums – the PANorama Caribbean Music Fest. The oceanfront will be the scene of this festival that delightfully combines the rhythm of steel bands with Caribbean food and soft sea breezes, creating an island paradise for the weekend. The event is free to the public. Another waterfront event coming up on May 10 through 12 is Monsters on the Beach, an occasion that will involve monster truck racing. Spectators can watch the exciting races from bleachers overlooking the boardwalk. Tickets may be purchased for $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. Shows are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at noon and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. As this Sunday is Mother’s Day, the weekend will be a great time for treating Mom to a weekend by the ocean.
