Friday Night Hoedowns

Now that April has arrived, it’s time for the start of Friday Night Hoedowns, a weekly event that will run through the end of October. On these evenings, bands from various genres provide a concert, and some members of the audience dance. The gala attracts people of all ages, ranging from seniors to children. All you need to bring is a blanket or lawn chair. When the weather is rainy, the concerts are held under a large tent.

Admission is free. Hours are from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The location is the Virginia Beach Farmers Market at 3640 Dam Neck Road in Virginia Beach.

Atlantic Coast Kite Festival

The Atlantic Coast Kite Festival will create a feast for the eyes on May 5 and 6, as kites of every imaginable color soar up into the skies along the waterfront. The event will offer kite-building workshops, as well as awards for the best kites in different categories. What a fun family project this would be!

Admission is free. The location is on the beach between 16^th and 18 Streets.
