Sand Soccer Championships Are Around the Corner

via Military News On June 7 to 9, the city will host the 26 th Sand Soccer Championships, an event where 100,000 spectators and participants will gather to celebrate the fun sport. During the festival, international teams will parade to the matches with the sound of conga drums beating in the background. Competitions will include categories for children, teens, men, women, college students and corporate coed teams. Because the game is similar to beach volleyball, the rules are easy to learn. The unbeatable setting will consists of gentle ocean breezes, views of foamy waves and the exciting boardwalk filled with live music and good food. What could be more pleasant? Expect to have a grand time playing sports and games like basketball, volleyball and giant chess. The kids will enjoy the playground and jumping pillow, and everyone will delight in the pool that has a giant water slide. You can also rent bikes onsite to ride along the beautiful oceanfront and boardwalk. In addition, when it’s time to relax, Dad can stretch out in one of the hammocks that are hung under shady trees. Salute to Summer 2019

via vabeach.com It’s hard to believe, but the good ol’ summertime is almost here. Soon school will be out, and families will be planning where to go on vacation. Join us as we welcome the arrival of this carefree season on May 24 to 26 at the Salute to Summer celebration. The event, a star-spangled tribute to the military and fun in the sun, will feature concerts at three stages: the 17 th , 24 th and 31 st Street Parks. Perhaps the most special part of the gala is a Hero’s Walk along the boardwalk between 17 th and 31 st Streets. Here, you’ll find essays describing U.S. military conflicts throughout history that are written by local high school students. The essays are posted on banners, so passersby can read them easily. Bleachers will be set up on the boardwalk for spectators who come from miles around to watch the loud, fast competitions. Adding to the fun, the shows include a performance from Megasaurus – a 30-foot tall robotic dinosaur. Ticket prices for the races range from $20 to $50.
