East Coast Surfing Championships

via surfecsc.com Mark your calendars for August 19 to 26, when the East Coast Surfing Championships will be held. Even non-surfers will enjoy watching the skill shown by the several hundred competitors who will be joyfully riding the waves. Yet this grand celebration involves much more than surfing. It will also include volleyball, a street skate, skimboarding, live music, a swimsuit contest and food. Headlining performers will be The Original Wailers on Friday night and Matisyahu on Saturday night. Admission is free. Thursday Night Family Adventures

via Beach Street USA On Thursday nights, the Virginia Beach waterfront will be the scene of the Family Great Adventure Series. The wildly popular weekly event is an interactive exploit, where participants endeavor to solve a mystery through brawn and brains. Afterwards, a movie is shown on a giant screen on the beach. No admission is charged. Hours are from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The location is the beach between 20 th and 30 th Streets. Movie Nights Every other Friday night, a free movie is shown at the Landstown Commons shopping mall. Peter Rabbit is scheduled for July 20, while Coco is scheduled for August 3.
