Summer in the City

We’ve entered the height of the active summer season, when many events are scheduled. In addition to the beach, boardwalk and local attractions, you’ll enjoy the festivities below. via Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra Symphony by the Sea Concert Series Beginning July 12, and continuing every other Thursday night throughout the summer, local symphony orchestras will perform pop music concerts at the 31 st Street Stage Park. Come savor pleasant ocean breezes while the sound of familiar tunes fills the air. Don’t miss these magical evenings by the sea. Admission is free. Hours are from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Dreams & Beams Video & Laser Show On July 10, July 24 and August 7, our city will provide Video & Laser Shows at the 20 th Street Beach Stage. The multimedia displays, which use innovative technology, are a sea fantasy and celebration of everything Virginia Beach. Shows start at 9:30 p.m. and are repeated every fifteen minutes through 10:30 p.m

Celebrate the Fourth at Virginia Beach

The local celebration, Stars and Stripes Explosion, will have the two quintessential ingredients of an event honoring the birth of America – patriotic music and fireworks. Thousands of people will throng to the waterfront to watch performances that include folk music, Broadway tunes, movie themes and tributes to big-name artists. At 6:30 p.m., the Quantico Marine Corps Band Rock Band and Concert Band will launch the evening’s festivities at the main stage at 24 th Street. Concerts at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park and 21 st Street Park begin at 7 p.m. A spectacular fireworks display starts at 9:30 p.m. at the main stage. As you watch the dazzling sparkles reflected in the ocean, you’ll feel that there is no better place to be on July 4 th . Live! on Atlantic

via VisitorsGuideNetwork.com While an array of festivals are scheduled during the summer months in Virginia Beach, it’s fun to visit even when no major event is on the agenda. A nightly entertainment program, “Live! On Atlantic” begins June 15 and continues through August 26. At 7:30 p.m. the happy magic begins, which includes concerts and novelty acts such as jugglers, stilt walkers and caricature artists. The location is from 17th to 25 th street along the waterfront. In addition to the amusements, a plethora of great restaurants and unique shops lure passersby inside to eat and shop. You’ll find much to enjoy. Sandstock – Tribute to Rock & Roll If you like the music from the past few decades, you’ll love Sandstock , a three-day concert series that is a beach-inspired version of Woodstock. Tribute artists will take you back in time, playing hits from rockers like Pink Floyd and the Allman Brothers. On June 29 to July 1, performances will be held on two stage

Latin Fest

via Virginia.org On June 23 and 23, the waterfront will be pulsating with exciting Latin music, including salsa, jazz and merengue. There is something about a Latin beat that makes people want to dance, so grab your significant other and plan to cut a rug under the stars. Local and regional musicians will perform on a giant stage at 24 th Street. The event will also offer cultural activities and vendors. Zumba is a wildly popular fitness craze that involves dancing to Latin tunes. An array of instructors will be on hand on Saturday morning to teach their moves. You can participate as little or as much as you like. Admission is free. In addition to the 24 th Street Stage, some festivities will be held at the Main Beach Stage and the DQ Grill and Chill 17th Street Park.
