Celebrate the Fourth at Virginia Beach

via Virginia Beach
Plan a stay at Virginia Beach on July 4th, when our nation commemorates her independence. The local celebration, Stars and Stripes Explosion, will have the two quintessential ingredients of an event honoring the birth of America – patriotic music and fireworks. Thousands of people will throng to the waterfront to watch performances that include folk music, Broadway tunes, movie themes and tributes to big-name artists.

At 6:30 p.m., the Quantico Marine Corps Band Rock Band and Concert Band will launch the evening’s festivities at the main stage at 24th Street. Concerts at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park and 21st Street Park begin at 7 p.m.

A spectacular fireworks display starts at 9:30 p.m. at the main stage. As you watch the dazzling sparkles reflected in the ocean, you’ll feel that there is no better place to be on July 4th.

Weekly Fireworks

If you can’t be with us on Independence Day, you can still enjoy free fireworks displays on Sunday and Wednesday nights. They are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the beach at 2500 Atlantic Avenue.

Chalk the Walk

A fun annual tradition, Chalk the Walk is an event that transforms the boardwalk into a canvas of art. Masterpieces created by amateurs, professionals and children will be judged, and prizes will be awarded in each category. This gala on July 7 is free of charge. It begins at 10 a.m., and the announcement of winners is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
