Food Events Coming Up in April

Virginia Beach is known for its seafood, but it has other mouth-watering dishes as well. You can look forward to two April events that permit you to sample some of the most popular area edibles. It is a competition among the city’s restaurants that focuses on a favorite local menu item – she crab soup. Attendees may sample the entries and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. The location of the event is 24 th Street Stage/Park. On April 22, Chick’s Oyster Bar will host  Chick's Seafood Festival . Visitors can taste delectables made by several restaurants, and music will be provided by The Tiki Bar Band and Cody & Austin. RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles

For those of us who grew up in the ‘60s, the music of that decade is magical. Cherry Blossom Festival

Everyone has heard of the beautiful cherry blossom trees that adorn our nation’s capital in the spring. [caption id="attachment_1440" align="alignleft" width="283"] via Visit Virginia Beach[/caption] Instead of fighting the crowds in Washington D.C., you can enjoy this annual display of nature right here in Virginia Beach. Red Wing Park is the abode of 150 trees that will produce the exquisite flowers soon. Although the blooming time is short, lasting between four to ten days, it is absolutely glorious. On April 1, the city will host the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which will be a time of enjoying Japanese creative activities, music and martial arts demonstrations. The celebration is in honor of the goodwill friendship between the U.S. and Japan. Bring a blanket or chair for watching the performances. Winter Whale Watching Rides

One of the pleasures involved in a camping trip to Virginia Beach during the cooler months is a boat ride to see the ocean wildlife. These massive inhabitants of the sea have been known to flip their tails and wave their front flippers, seemingly putting on a show for the delight of whale watchers. You may also catch glimpses of an array of waterfowl, such as brown pelicans, double-crested cormorants and northern gannets, making dramatic dives into the water.
