Neptune Festival 2019

via vboceanside.com One of the great things about Virginia Beach is that the big events don’t stop when summer ends. On September 27 to 29, one of the area’s most celebrated galas will be held – the Neptune Festival, otherwise known as Boardwalk Weekend. A highlight is the International Sandsculpting Championships, which is one of the largest competitions of its kind in the world. The artistic talent and imagination of the participants will be on awesome display in Neptune’s Land of Sand from September 29 to October 8. Competitions aren’t limited to experts: The event also has amateur and school divisions. Admission is $5 for adults and teenager over 12. Most of the Neptune Festival events are absolutely free, including concerts throughout the weekend, an arts and crafts show and a glorious fireworks display. Welcome Fall at the Apple Extravaganza

via allevents.in One of the pleasures of fall is having a greater variety of crisp, juicy apples from which to choose. Put the Apple Extravaganza on September 21 on your calendar, as it will be great way to welcome this wonderful season. The event will include live music, food trucks, craft vendors and children’s activities such as face painting. Admission is free. VBFH FreedomFest Military events are always inspiring because they remind us of what our armed forces do to keep us safe and free. On September 7, Camp Pendleton will host FreedomFest, a gala that will include Navy SEAL demonstrations, live music and all-you-can-eat food from Froggie’s. Don’t Miss the Seniors’ Gala

Instead of the same ol’ card games, picture yourself jitterbugging to the lively sound of big-band tunes at the Seniors’ Gala on September 4. Glen Boswick and the Sound of Swing band will provide three glorious hours of music that is perfect for waltzing, fox trotting and jitterbugging.  The event will include a fabulous buffet, so it promises to be a special evening. Dust off those dancing shoes and come prepared to cut a rug! Tickets are $15 per person. Hours are from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The location is the Virginia Beach Convention Center at 1000 19 th Street. Rock ‘N’ Roll Half Marathon

via VisitVirginiaBeach.com Attention runners! Virginia Beach will host the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on September 1, which is during Labor Day Weekend, the last 3-day camping weekend before fall. It starts at 6:30 a.m. and continues for 4 hours. The starting line is at the intersection of 14th Street and Pacific Avenue, while the finish line is at the Virginia Beach boardwalk. We’re a great place to stay, as the marathon route goes right around the KOA. Any guest who shows us their race registration gets 10 percent off, and campers can cheer on the runners as they jog around the campground. The marathon is a part of the American Music Festival, which is a series of concerts performed by a broad variety of performers. Whether your taste in music is classic rock, alternative, blues or jazz, you’re sure to find it here. Attendees will be dancing in the streets during this fun weekend.
