On September 27 to 29, one of the area’s most celebrated galas will be held – the Neptune Festival, otherwise known as Boardwalk Weekend. A highlight is the International Sandsculpting Championships, which is one of the largest competitions of its kind in the world. The artistic talent and imagination of the participants will be on awesome display in Neptune’s Land of Sand from September 29 to October 8. It starts at 6:30 a.m. and continues for 4 hours. The starting line is at the intersection of 14th Street and Pacific Avenue, while the finish line is at the Virginia Beach boardwalk. We’re a great place to stay, as the marathon route goes right around the KOA. Any guest who shows us their race registration gets 10 percent off, and campers can cheer on the runners as they jog around the campground. The marathon is a part of the American Music Festival, which is a series of concerts performed by a broad variety of performers.
