Rock ‘N’ Roll Half Marathon

Attention runners! Virginia Beach will host the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on September 1, which is during Labor Day Weekend, the last 3-day camping weekend before fall. It starts at 6:30 a.m. and continues for 4 hours. The starting line is at the intersection of 14th Street and Pacific Avenue, while the finish line is at the Virginia Beach boardwalk.

We’re a great place to stay, as the marathon route goes right around the KOA. Any guest who shows us their race registration gets 10 percent off, and campers can cheer on the runners as they jog around the campground.

The marathon is a part of the American Music Festival, which is a series of concerts performed by a broad variety of performers. Whether your taste in music is classic rock, alternative, blues or jazz, you’re sure to find it here. Attendees will be dancing in the streets during this fun weekend.

East Coast Surfing Championships

Another major event to put on your calendar is the East Coast Surfing Championships on August 18 to 25. In addition to exciting surfing, the gala will feature other beach sports such as volleyball and skim-boarding. It will include live music and food concessions as well.

Admission is free. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The location is the beachfront from 1^st to 10^th Streets.
