East Coast She-Crab Soup Classic

She-crab soup is so loved in Coastal Virginia that an annual event has been devoted to it – the East Coast She Crab Soup Classic. Foodies are eagerly awaiting this year’s gala on April 13, when restaurants will compete for People’s Choice Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards. The dish is a delectably rich bisque made of Atlantic blue crab meat, crab stock and cream. It’s flavored with shallots, mace and a little dry sherry. You simply must try it! The Farmers’ Market Friday night Hoedowns will start April 5 and continue through October. Bring your lawn chair and relax while listening to a concert by Dallas Band. You may also dance with your sweetheart. An ice cream treat from one of the market’s vendors will be the perfect snack. Admission is free. It will feature more than 150 artisans and artists from across the country, offering candles, photography, handcrafted jewelry, woven baskets, toys, specialty foods and fine art. In addition, exhibitors will introduce new lines of home accessories such as outdoor furniture, wind chimes, welcome wreaths, garden statuary and birdhouses.
