One of the most fun galas of spring is coming up on May 6 – the 12 th Annual Atlantic Coast Kite Festival . Awards will be presented for the most unusual, biggest and funniest kite, along with the youngest and oldest flyer. In addition, American Kite Association members will perform kite routines set to music. Are you a novice at kite flying? No problem. “Each day “flight training” will be offered, where experienced flyers will teach all the fundamentals to newbies. On April 28 to 30, the sound of alternative music will fill the air at the SonRise Music Festival . The event also includes a special guest speaker -- Harlem Globetrotter Seth Franco. Reality Church of Virginia Beach will be conducting a non-denominational service, complete with full band, at the beach on Sunday, April 30 at 10 a.m. You’ll find this family-friendly gala in the Cox Cultural Pavilion at 24th Street on the oceanfront.
