In addition to CBN Christmas Village and the Holiday Lights Merry Mile, more festive events are on the calendar during December. You’d be hard pressed to find a better destination than Virginia Beach for a holiday camping trip.

Holiday Parade

On December 7, don’t miss the Holiday Parade at the Beach, which will involve a joyous array of lighted floats, marching bands and performing dance groups. Rumor has it that Santa will make an appearance, too.

Admission is free, and hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parade route runs along Atlantic Avenue from 15th Street to 25th Street.

Concerts

Nothing can put you in the Christmas mood better than listening to holiday music, so you’re sure to enjoy some upcoming performances. The Home for the Holidays concert on December 7 is a USO-style show that will feature the Guava Jam Band. Proceeds will go to needy military families. Admission is $12, hours are from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and the location is the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts at 201 Market Street.

Another option is the Christmas in Ireland concert by Irish tenor Emmet Cahill. It promises to be absolutely beautiful, as it will include much-loved standards such as “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night,” along with popular tunes from the Emerald Isle. Tickets are $30 to $45, hours are from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the location is the Church of the Holy Family at 1279 N. Great Neck Road.
