More Holiday Events

In addition to CBN Christmas Village and the Holiday Lights Merry Mile, more festive events are on the calendar during December. You’d be hard pressed to find a better destination than Virginia Beach for a holiday camping trip. via TripAdvisor Holiday Parade On December 7, don’t miss the Holiday Parade at the Beach, which will involve a joyous array of lighted floats, marching bands and performing dance groups. Rumor has it that Santa will make an appearance, too. Admission is free, and hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parade route runs along Atlantic Avenue from 15th Street to 25th Street. Concerts Nothing can put you in the Christmas mood better than listening to holiday music, so you’re sure to enjoy some upcoming performances. The Home for the Holidays concert on December 7 is a USO-style show that will feature the Guava Jam Band. Lights at the Beach

via HamptonRoadsVisitor.com Every evening from November 22 through December 31, the Virginia Beach Boardwalk will be transformed into a magical display of busy elves, musical crabs and festive fish that sparkle against the velvety night sky. This annual attraction, called Holiday Lights Merry Mile, this year sponsored by BayPort Credit Union, brings holiday spirit to more than 25,000 families who visit it during Christmastime each year. As you drive through the display, you’ll see snow globes and a giant castle, as well as fish that appear to swim above your car. And of course, Santa and his reindeer always appear in lights. In addition, you can tune your car radio to a frequency to listen to yuletide music. Once you experience this pleasure, you’ll understand why the American Bus Association included it in their list of “Top 100 Events in North America for 2011.” Admission is $10 cash per car. During December 5 to 7 and 12 to 14, you can immerse yourself in enchantment, as the grounds of CBN and Regent University are transformed into a Christmastime fantasy. Some of the pleasures that await are reminiscent of yuletides of old such as performances of timeless classics by musical groups, ensembles and children’s choirs.
