Big doings are coming up on August 24. On this day, families from all parts of the state will bring their children to the city to watch or participate in the 6^th Annual Kids Bash. It’s the largest event on the East Coast dedicated to promoting fitness in area youth. 

The gala features games and competitions appropriate for each age level that foster problem solving and team building. A favorite contest is the Color Wars Games, an exciting challenge where teams vie for the year’s championship.

Face painting, bounce houses, crafts and carnival games will ensure toddlers have a blast. In addition, all attendees will enjoy the live performances, food vendors and gift giveaways.

The cost for kids who wish to compete is $25 for ages 6 through 16 and $15 for ages 1 through 5. Hours are from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The location is the Virginia Beach Field House at 2020 Landstown Centre Way.

FunkFest Beach Party

Fans of funk music, a style of music that originated in the 1960s, won’t want to miss the FunkFest Beach Party on August 23 and 24. Dancing, food and merchandise will add to the festive vibe.

Admission is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The location is the beachfront between 20^th and 30^th Streets.
