Polar Plunge 2019

One of the beloved winter traditions at Virginia Beach is an event called Polar Plunge, which involves taking an icy dip in the Atlantic Ocean. Even if you aren’t one of the hearty souls who find such an endeavor appealing, the event, scheduled for February 1 and 2, will be fun to watch. 

Festivities will include beachfront races, artisans, a parade, costume contest, live music and good food. In addition, those who attend will be treated to all the hot chocolate and coffee their hearts desire.

The fee is $100 for anyone wanting to plunge, and the proceeds will go to support a good cause – the Special Olympics. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The location is the Hilton waterfront at 3001 Atlantic Avenue.
