Boardwalk Weekend 2018

via Facebook
The weekend of September 28 to 30 will mark the end of Virginia Beach’s best known party – the Neptune Festival. It will go out with a bang!

Aside from the famous Sandsculpting Championships and Art & Crafts Show, the event will feature continual outdoor concerts at the 17th, 24th and 31st Street stages. In addition, the gala will include an Atlantic Sailing Regatta from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and a volleyball tournament that starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

One of the most popular aspects of the weekend is the grand fireworks display at 9 p.m. Saturday night. It can be seen from any point along the waterfront, so bring a blanket to relax on while watching.

On top of all this, the event will offer a parade from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday with more than 100 floats, costumed characters, military units and marching bands. It will run from 16th to 32nd Streets at the oceanfront.

What celebration would be complete without scrumptious eats? Food vendors will be stationed along the boardwalk between 10th and 35th Streets, offering barbeque, crab cakes, chicken on a stick, Italian ices, hot funnel cakes and more. You won’t leave hungry.

Best of all, all the festivities (except the food) are free. Don’t miss this multifaceted fall extravaganza.
