Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon

Are you a runner? Even if you aren’t, you’ll enjoy attending the annual Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon on September 1 and 2. For 20 years, this hugely popular Labor Day Weekend event has been held in conjunction with the American Music Festival. It’s different from most marathons, as it features live bands, drum lines, DJs and cheer teams. Participants can choose from a half marathon, 5K and 1 mile, so there is something for everyone.

Stay in a cabin or campsite at Virginia Beach KOA that weekend and you’ll get 10% off when you show us your bib or race registration. For the half marathon, you’ll also get free bus service to the starting line. In addition, the route runs right around Virginia Beach KOA, so your family and friends can cheer you on as you pass by!

Neptune’s Surfing Classic

One of the joys of living by the ocean is getting a surfboard and learning how to ride the waves. Old and young surfers will have a showdown on September 8 and 9 at the Neptune’s Surfing Classic. The competition will be as fun for the spectators as it is for the participants.

Admission is free. Hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location is the waterfront between 1^st and 10^th Streets.
