A good destination for a rainy day, the Museum of
Contemporary Art (MOCA) houses exhibits that showcase the works of
internationally acclaimed artists, along with national and regional ones. As you
meander through the hushed halls of the gallery, you’ll see a variety of
artistic mediums, including photography, painting, glass and sculpture.
Interactive areas for hands-on activities are available as well. A visit here
can ignite the imagination and calm the spirit.
Admission is $7.70 for adults and $5.50 for seniors and
children. MOCA re-opens this Friday, March 16, with a reception at 6:30 p.m. to
unveil its Spring Exhibitions. The reception is free for MOCA members, while the
charge for non-members is $10. The museum is closed on Mondays. The address
is 2200 Parks Avenue.
Bagel Baker
It’s always fun to try a family-owned eatery like Bagel
Baker to experience culinary creativity. Crunchy on the outside but soft and
tender on the inside, the stone-baked bagels are sure to be some of the best
you’ve ever tasted. Whether you order one with toppings or opt for one of the
bagel sandwiches, you’ll understand why the place is packed. The gourmet coffee
they brew throughout the day is the perfect accompaniment. You’ll find this gem
at 1340 N Great Neck Rd, Suite 1248.
