Lynnhaven Trashion Show

It’s probably a safe bet that you’ve never attended a fashion show where the attire modeled on the runway came out of a trash or recycling can.

Yet this experience can be yours at the Trashion Show on February 24 at the Lynnhaven Mall. The event will feature “garbage glam,” as local students will sport original creations made solely from repurposed materials. Judges will present awards, and attendees may cast their vote for a People’s Choice Award. What fun it will be!

Admission is free. Hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The address is 701 Lynnhaven Parkway.

Mermaid Mondays

Mermaids are part of the whimsical folklore of any seaside community. Beginning March 5, the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center will host Mermaid Mondays, which are evenings of mermaid sightings and themed activities such as a puppet show and story time. Visiting the aquarium is always fascinating, but if you have children, be sure and go on Monday nights.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and admission is $23 and up. The address is 717 General Booth Boulevard, just down the road from the campground.
