Winter Camping at Virginia Beach

The fun in our beautiful oceanfront city never stops. Even in the middle of winter, you’ll find plenty of enjoyable pursuits here.

Winter Wildlife Festival

On January 26 to 28, experienced guides will take you on excursions to observe winter wildlife all around the city. The outings will teach how to observe birds, harbor seals and other creatures in their natural settings. Stop at the Princess Anne Recreation Center to browse through the environmental exhibits, vendors and live animals, as well as to engage in workshops. Children’s activities will be held at the library, and food trucks will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family event will be entertaining and educational.

Admission is free, and hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The address is Princess 1400 Nimmo Parkway.

Three Ships Coffee Roasters

Baby, it’s cold outside! When you’re sightseeing around town on chilly days, there is nothing like dropping into a café to warm up with some freshly roasted coffee. At Three Ships Coffee Roasters, which is a few blocks from the oceanfront, you can enjoy a cup of hot java from faraway places like Indonesia and Columbia. One of their homemade buttery biscuits or savory hand pies will make the perfect accompaniment for your beverage. The address is 607A 19th Street.
