Virginia Beach is the ideal place for hikes because it offers an array of trails in beautiful settings. Below are our two top recommendations:

  • First Landing State Park, located by the Chesapeake Bay, has 20 miles of hiking trails. The quietude and varied scenery make it rewarding to visit. Some of the best-rated easy trails include the Cape Henry Trail, Osmanthus Trail, Bald Cyprus Trail and High Dune Trail.

  • Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge has two trails that total 8 miles. This area isn’t crowded, and it provides opportunities to see migratory birds and other wildlife. The Beaches and Dikes Trail leads to False Cape State Park, but due to its difficulty, it’s suited for experienced hikers.

Holiday Event Coming Soon

Starting in mid-November, the local holiday events start gearing up. The first one, called Grand Illumination, is scheduled for November 10 at the Lynnhaven Mall. It will be a good time to get a jump on your Christmas shopping, as the sights and sounds of the season will fill the mall. The gala will feature carolers and Santa, as well as stilt walkers and acrobats.

Head to the Center Court to watch the preshow at 6 p.m. and main show from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The address is 701 Lynnhaven Parkway.
