Local Museums Chronicle Area Military and Maritime History

Virginia Beach is proud of its military and maritime history, and these aspects of the past are represented wonderfully in two area museums.

Military Aviation Museum

The Military Aviation Museum houses an amazing collection of planes, including those from the WWI and WWII eras. One of the top attractions in the area, the depository is quite interesting for anyone with even a remote interest in history or the armed services.

Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $7.50 for children ages 6 to 17. For an additional fee of $169, you can take a thrilling ride in one of the vintage aircrafts.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The address is 1341 Princess Anne Road.

Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum

Local maritime history is honored and preserved at the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum. It has a great collection of life-saving equipment, and the docent is a fountain of information on shipwrecks and rescues.

Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages 6 to 15. The address is 2401 Atlantic Avenue.
