FunkFest Beach Party

Funk, a music genre that debuted in the 1960s, is an African-American blend of soul, R&B and soulful jazz.

The music’s rhythmic beat makes it very danceable, and in fact, it had a strong influence on the disco music of the 1970s. Legendary artists of the style include James Brown, George Clinton, Sly and the Family Stone and The Ohio Players.

On August 25 and 26, you can enjoy the hits of this era at the FunkFest Beach Party. The concerts begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Don’t miss the event’s highlight, which is a performance by The Gap Experience at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. The location is the beach at 24th Street.
