Weekly Beach Activities

Some activities at Virginia Beach, such as those below, are weekly affairs. However, regardless of when you come, you’ll always find much to enjoy at the waterfront.

great adventure seriesFamily Great Adventure Series

Every Thursday night, you can attend the Family Great Adventure Series, which involves using brains and brawn to unravel a mystery. Each episode has a different theme, such as Tropical Game Time on July 13 and Animal Detectives on July 27. Participants can choose to dress up as characters, and everyone who takes part in the endeavor gets a medal.

The festivities also include games as well as a family movie shown on a giant screen. Hours are from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the location is the beach between 20th and 30th Streets. Admission is free.

Weekly Fireworks Display

On Wednesday and Sunday nights beginning July 9, a fireworks display is held on the beach, launching from the water at 22nd Street but visible along most of the Boardwalk. The dazzling colors reflected in the water are beautiful to watch. The shows start at 10 p.m.
