International Pan Fest

Did you know that some people make music with steel pans? On May 12 and 13, you can hear this unique sound at the International Pan Fest.

Refreshing ocean breezes, food from an array of countries and the beat from the steel drums will meld to evoke an island paradise for festivalgoers. Friday evening’s schedule involves a concert at 24th Street Park, and Saturday’s agenda includes a 20-band competition for the Grand Champion Award. All performances are free.

Visit the Vibe

If you are artsy, you’ll want to visit the Vibe, a neighborhood of creative businesses that are a hub for roasters, artist enterprises, restaurants and museums. On Mother’s Day weekend, May 12 to 14, the area will host an Outdoor Arts Festival, which will consist of entertainment, artist demonstrations, artist booths and children’s activities. You’ll find the gala at 18th Street between Mediterranean and Cypress.
