Experience the Artistry of Sandsculpting
The International Sandsculpting Championship will be held on the beach between 1st and 10th Streets on September 30 through October 9. As you walk through a tent as large as a football field, you can view 22 masterpieces created by sculptors from around the world who are competing for the winning prize. This event also has an amateur division where local schools and freelance entrants can compete.

In addition to admiring the incredible artistry, you can enjoy live music and entertainment in the sculpting tent as well as “quicksand competitions” and teaching demonstrations. Admission is $5 for adults. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on September 30 and October 1, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 2 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 3 to 9.
Amazing Pet Expo
A premier event for pet owners, the Amazing Pet Expo is a showcase of the latest and greatest pet products. Yet it’s so much more. The festivity will include talent and costume contests along with demonstrations of obedience training. Your Fluffy or Rover can even try out some pet sports.
If you don’t own a pet but are thinking of taking the plunge, adoptions will be available. You’ll find everything you need for them under one roof. Although pet care requires some time and effort, anyone who has a dog or cat will attest to the fact that the love and companionship they offer enriches a life immeasurably. The location is the Virginia Beach Convention Center, and the hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
