The Cherry Blossom Festival is Back in Virginia Beach

The Cherry Blossom Festival is taking place on April 2, 2016 from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Red Wing Park, just half a mile up the road from Virginia Beach KOA! This event joins sister cities Virginia Beach and Miyazaki, Japan to celebrate Japanese music, dance, art, martial arts and, of course, breathtaking cherry blossoms.

You’ll feel like you’ve traveled across the world as you watch breathtaking performances, like the Koto Performance, which incorporates a unique Japanese instrument. The Japanese drum is featured in the Taiko Performance. Maybe you can learn to be a martial arts pro by watching the Karatedo and Judo demonstrations. Dance the day away with the Okinawa Dance and Folk Song performance.
This event is interactive, too! Make your own bookmarks, learn calligraphy, play the chopstick game and make beautiful Japanese crafts. Don’t forget to get your face painted and try out some barley tea. In fact, if you get hungry, head over to the food vendors, featuring The Funnel Cake Factory, Bobby Q, Keep It Poppin’, Spuds and Capt’n Crabby.
