The Atlantic Coast Kite Festival is taking place April 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the beach between 16th and 18th Streets. This annual festival brings hundreds of people together to fill the sky with vibrant kites. The joyful and colorful event is great for all age groups and levels of kitefliers. Bring your purchased or homemade kite and enter it into the Best Kite Contest from 1:30 – 3 p.m. You may just win the award based on kite construction, your kite-flying ability and how long and how high your kite can fly. You’ll score points for structural design, craftsmanship and visual appeal. The champs will each get a trophy!
Archie Stewart, a member of the American Kitefliers Association, will lead kite-building workshops. Learn from the pro as he provides instructions on how to build the perfect kite, information about aerodynamics and kite-flying safety instructions. Materials are included!
