Spend Mother's Day Weekend at Virginia Beach KOA and Help a Worthy Cause

If you could make a difference in the life of a child with cancer, would you? Would you look for a way to bring them hope and help them heal? Would you find ways where they could feel “normal” again?

At KOA Care Camps, KOA says “yes.” And more importantly, it is doing something about it. Having cancer shouldn’t mean giving up the joys of childhood. That’s why the KOA Campground Owners Association created the Care Camps Trust – to help children who have cancer enjoy carefree time focusing on fun, friends and activities instead of on their illness.

Campers can help out on this project during Care Camps “Big Weekend” May 9-10. Stay as a paying guest Friday, May 9, at Virginia Beach KOA and get Saturday, May 10, for free.

During Care Camps Big Weekend, participating KOAs will offer campers the ability to donate to KOA Care Camps through several special, fun events and activities – or feel free to drop your donation directly into one of the handy collection stations you’ll see in the KOA Camp Stores.

Now in its 11th year, the program has raised more than $5 million to help send children with cancer to KOA Care Camps across North America. These 56 specialized, medically equipped facilities offer a true summer camp experience to children undergoing treatment or recovering from cancer. The KOA Care Camps Trust distributes $500,000 annually to these camps to help send children to the summer camps of their dreams.

KOA’s mission is to allow these amazing children to enjoy the joy, healing and freedom that come from attending specialized summer camps where they can just be themselves. Surrounded by other kids just like them, they swim, go on hikes, sing songs and create memories that help get them through the tough times. They heal physically and emotionally, and hope flourishes.
