symphony by the seaA magical evening awaits campers at Virginia Beach KOA on July 11, when the Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform favorite tunes that are dear to the hearts of many. On this Thursday evening you can enjoy the big band sounds of Glen Miller and Duke Ellenton, as well as beautiful songs from Broadway Shows like Oklahoma and South Pacific. This free concert will be held at Neptune’s Park from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Is your inner artist yearning to get out? You can express your creativity at the Chalk the Walk Artsplosion on July 13, when the boardwalk will become a canvas of drawings. Participation is free in this competition that will involve three categories: youth, amateur and professional. It will be fun to try. Who knows? You may win one of the trophies or cash prizes. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And if you have children you won’t want to miss the Summer Magic Family Night on July 12 that will involve music, storytelling and an illusion show. This family-friendly evening also includes a gallery scavenger hunt, art projects and refreshments. It will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at 2200 Parks Avenue. The cost of admission for children two years old and older is $10. Admission for parents is free.
