Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge

The nearby beach will be scene of a unique event on July 21st that could be likened to a crab beauty contest. Residents of Virginia Beach KOA can attend the Mid-Atlantic Crab Challenge, an event that made the New York Daily News top ten list for wackiest celebrations in the world.

You may be thinking something like “If you’ve seen one crab, you’ve seen them all.” Well, not necessarily. The crabs in this contest have creatively decorated displays. Moreover, the winner won’t be just another pretty face. Aside from the most beautiful crab winner, trophies will be awarded to the friendliest, shyest, and biggest, as well as the most traveled and athletic. What a hoot!

Back at the campground, July 20th to 22nd is designated Carnival Weekend, and will involve face painting, duct tape and gyroscope, along with games, hot dogs and pony rides. Visit our website and reserve your spot today.
