Atlantic Coast Kite Festival
Coming up on May 4, the Atlantic Coast Kite Festival will be held at 17 th Street Park. Campers at Virginia Beach KOA can choose to participate in the contest or just enjoy the visual feast involved in watching the brightly colored kites sail through the sky. Honors will be awarded to the contestant with the most unusual kite, the funniest kite and the largest kite. Admission is free. Broadway show tunes are among the best known and most beloved songs in American music. Fans of these tunes can head over to the Town Center on May 4, when they can listen to the community chorale’s presentation of Places Please: Spotlight on Broadway. It will be a wonderful evening of entertainment that will include themes form renowned shows like West Side Story, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. The show begins at 7:30, and the cost of admission is $14 to $18. On May 5 the Sandler Center for Performing Arts will present a Pops concert that will feature the music of Cole Porter and George Gershwi
